Brian will be the official juror for the popular Delta Annual Exhibition at the Arkansas Art Center which will be on view from June 27 – September 28, 2014. Brian will attend the opening and give a slide talk. https://www.arkarts.com/delta

Brian will exhibit in several art fairs including Expo Chicago, Miami Projects, Art MRKT San Francisco, The ADAA Art Show, New York, Art Southampton, and others.

Brian was a featured speaker at inGenius! in Charleston’s historic Sotille Theater.

Brian and Katie bought a weekend/summer home in Southampton, NY where Brian looks forward to spending time in the marshes and creeks similar to those of his native South Carolina Lowcountry.

At age 48, Brian has already had two retrospective exhibitions: a Ten Year Survey at the Butler Institute of American Art, Ohio in 2001, a major eighty eight piece retrospective at the State Museum of South Carolina in Columbia in 2006, and the Gibbes Museum of Art, Charleston.

Brian was a Visiting Artist at the University of South Carolina where he created a series of prints in the Atelier Program.

An interview with Brian on the subject of Glenn Gould aired nationwide in Canada on CBC radio. Brian was also the subject of Talk About, a radio program on South Carolina Public Radio.

PBS, in association with S.C. Public Television, featured Brian in State of the Arts which continues to play to a wide audience.

Three of Brian's paintings were purchased for the staterooms of the Mirabella V, the largest luxury sailing ship in the world.

Gamblin Artist Colors featured one of Brian's new paintings in its national ad campaign in Art News Magazine.

Brian was featured in a new book "Aerial Perspectives" produced by the Cavan Arts Council in Ireland. Brian was inspired to paint in Cavan County while a Fulbright Scholar in Ireland.

Brian's next New York exhibition, Low Dense will open at Forum Gallery on January 13 and run through February 19, 2011. The gallery has relocated to 730 Fifth Avenue. A color catalog will be available.

The Morris Museum of Art in Augusta, GA will present I Will Tell You A Place: Paintings by Brian Rutenberg, a solo exhibition opening January 29 - May 1, 2011.

The Mint Museum of Art in Charlotte, NC has acquired the first of two of Brian's paintings for its permanent collection.

Brian will exhibit at the Mobile Museum of Art in Southern Abstraction: A Fresh Look opening April 27 - September 14, 2012.

Burroughs-Chapin Museum of Art in Myrtle Beach, SC will present a solo exhibition of Brian's recent paintings from October 13-January 8, 2012.

Anne Cimballa, an art teacher for grades 7, 9, and 10 at the Charleston County School of the Arts received the 2010 Mary Whyte Art Educator Award and the $1,000 cash prize that accompanies the award. Awarded annually by the Gibbes, the Mary Whyte Art Educator Award is designed to recognize a high school visual art teacher in the tri-county area who has demonstrated superior commitment to his or her students and craft. Ms. Cimballa submitted the lesson plan Painting Inspired by the Works of Brian Rutenberg. Students visited the Gibbes exhibition Brian Rutenberg: Tidesong and created original landscape paintings using their own photos of the Lowcountry while painting with palette knives in the style of Rutenberg.

This summer (2009) The Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY acquired one of Brian's rare tree drawings for its permanent collection. Also University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences commissioned Brian to create a new painting for its building in Little Rock, AR. Other museums whom have recently acquired Rutenberg paintings include The Peabody-Essex Museum of Art, The Naples Museum of Art, Hickory Museum of Art, Arkansas Art Center, Springfield Museum of Art, Ogden Museum of Art, and the Morris Museum of Art.
